The scientific activity in Orthopaedic Surgery, Nordjylland is organized in six main areas: regeneration of tissue, motion analysis, MR scanning, bone surgery and image analysis, Ilizarov og osteoporosis. Furthermore, the activities include a number of clinical projects within the the individual areas, and several PhD projects. The lab research takes place at the Clinical Lab, the Insitute of Pathology, and the Institute of Health Technology, Aalborg University. At the Clinical Lab they do research within gait anysis, orther motion analysis, pain analysis and rehabilitation technology.

Orthopaedic Surgery, Nordjylland includes the following hospitals: Aalborg, Farsø, Hjørring og Frederikshavn.

Farsø Hospital

Farsø Hospital has a great flow of hip prostheses and shoulder prostheses patients. Currently, the team at Farsøe Hospital is doing surgery on patients who are taking part in clinical PhD research projects in the Orthopaedic Surgical Research Group in Aarhus. Farsøe Hospital has its own stereo x-ray set-up and a DEXA scanner (Norland XP-27 DEXA scanner).
